Aretha has personally picked Jennifer Hudson to play her in the upcoming film "Aretha: From These Roots". Some in the past had speculated that it might be Fantasia, but imo that casting choice would have been great for T.V., but not the big screen (and I love Fantasia). I think this could be the new "Ray" if handled the right way. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the right creative crew is placed behind this project....also, I hope it is Aretha's real life that is portrayed and not the Hollywood version.

Ok...so this is going to be a big screen production. I think Jennifer Hudson is a good choice, but I guess I will have to wait and see the movie. It always helps when you have someone to imitate, however, that makes your job hard too.
WOW FROM THE LIL UGLY LOOK ARETHA GAVE JENNIFER WHILE PERFORMING NEVER LOVED A MAN AT THAT TRIBUTE, I WAS THINKING FANTASIA WAS GON DEFINETLY GET THE ROLE, BUT UM THATS GOOD I HOPE JENNIFER TEAR DIS ROLE UP AND MAKE IT JUST AS BELIEVABLE AS SHE WAS WITH EFFIE. IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF SHE GOT ANOTHER OSCAR, BCUZ WITH ALL HER ACCOLADES LAST YEAR SHE REALLY HAS A TOUGH YEAR TO TOP.IM HAPPY FOR HER.
I hope it comes together the right way...I have much more faith in Jennifer's acting ability than the people behind it putting together a decent movie. Aretha's life was pure drama and glamour, and I want to see that translated in a real way.

That ain't gonna happen. Ms.ReRe, has always been tight lipped about her personal life. She either sugar coats the truth or just goes mum on questions she doesn't want to answer. I just want to know the 'truth' about why she and Glynn Turman divorced.
You are right about that....let's just hope she was waiting for the right time...haha
Everyone wonders about the Glenn Turman thing, tho. I wonder if he was really sleeping with her son like they said. I always thought Glenn and Arteha were more than an odd pairing from the get-go.
