And I Will Co-Sign On That!

Oh no she did not say this! From A Hot Mess:

Halle Berry came out and complained that she’s not considered for enough roles because she’s black. I swear she’s always bitching about something and she is the LAST person who needs to be complaining about getting enough roles.

“It doesn’t matter that I have an Oscar, an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Silver (Berlin) Bear (DEAD! What?! -J),” Berry, who is pregnant with her first child, said during an interview at a Manhattan hotel to promote her new movie “Things We Lost in the Fire.”

“I shouldn’t have had to try so hard to be considered. I should have to stop convincing studios I am right for it — it should be on my acting merit,” she said.

Sweetheart, did you ever think maybe it is based on your acting talent? You AREN’T that good of an actress. I don’t care if a flying Monkey wearing House of Dereon gave you your Oscar, you ain’t all that. And you’re lucky to be getting as many roles as you do while much more talented actresses like Angela Bassett are forced to do Clean & Clear commercials. SMH.

From IW: Maybe she can blame her delusion on the pregnancy. It took a few minutes for me to digest that she has an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Oscar....talk about bizarro.

I am really not a Halle Berry fan. She is really inconsistent in her roles and I would go as far as to say that she is a sell out!

Halle is cute, she need to work on the runways, photos shoots and such. She is not an actor just like J-lo is not a singer. But they are all trying to dip into multiple pot to get their share. Can't hate them for that. But I can't believe she has the audacity to complain about not getting a job or having to interview for a job. Get real, non actors do it everyday. Rejection and hard work are all part of life.

i love halle but her acting can be sus-pect. and then she does stuff like catwoman and it's like, really? and i hate to say it, but it says more about the state of movies than her skills when she wins for monster's ball. sorry, halle but that wasn't an oscar worthy performance. and if she's complaining about getting roles, sanaa lathan must me really mad about it.

I don't think it has occurred to her that she can't act, bless her soul. She has confused "you are beautiful" with "you have talent".

yep.

ffs, she even makes "Storm" boring. and fuck yeah, imagine that role with Angela Bassett instead? or well, any number of people?

I was pretty surprised at this comment as well. Halle has been Hollywood's token for a minute. There are plenty of actresses with acting talent and beauty that surpass hers in my humble opinion. Halle has seen alot of script-love.

Halle Berry is talented. I've been a fan of hers since I watched Strictly Business. She's just been picking some lackluster roles lately, but it looks like Things We Lost in the Fire might turn things around.

The thing is, it's not about Halle. She's a trailblazer and the roles she's being offered or not being offered in some cases effects all aspiring black actresses.

thank you marcus. @ everyone else; it's pretty unanimous: halle= beautiful, delusional, slightly off kilter non-actress.

halle is not a good actress and if strictly business is our starting point...the defense rests. i remember her stinking it up in the tv movie queen circa 91 or 92. i think she repeatedly delivered the line "i nigra!" so unconvincingly that I laughed out loud. and this is an OLD memory. mrs grapevine summed it up about right.

As most everyone has said it is interesting that Haile Berry is complaining about not getting gigs. If you want to see something funny watch the deleted scenes from X-Men. At first they were going to have her play Storm with an Kenyan accent. (In the comics Storm was from Kenya.) If you look at the deleted scenes where she tried to do the accent it was horrible.

If she is so concerned about her career and it track she needs to save the money that has been making and pooling it do some independent films or something. It could be that she sees that in a few years or a decade they will find a new "It Black Women" that will replace her.

@jj: laughable indeed. I forgot that she was in Strictly Business till I saw the poster last week. She's come a long way after her "no plastic surgery".

@ehav: unfortunately, I get the feeling that she'll be around for a while...

Nice blog! I've been reading it all and stopped at a few posts and thought about commenting but didn't. However I had to put my 2 cents in on Ms. Halle.
I really wish she would stop crying & complaining, she sucks as an actress, and maybe if she would stop showing everyone Halle's Berries (my kids & I came up with this after Monster Ball) maybe someone would take her seriously. Why must she bare them in almost every movie? I don't see Angela Bassett out there showing the world her boobs.
Oh, yea and her big Oscar Award performance in Monster Ball...garbage. She made me feeeelll like throwing up!
Sorry to rant, all just my opinion!
Blessings!

I'm glad you decided to comment Regina...welcome :-) If you stick around long enough, you'll discover I am definitely not a fan of her acting by any means...

I liked her in Strictly Business! Nice haircut! But as you said she's come a long way since then. I wouldn't call what she does acting though!
