A Black Slasher Movie?

From the director of YOU GOT SERVED & HOUSE PARTY 4, comes this urban horror/thriller on the order of CABIN FEVER, THE HILLS HAVE EYES, and WRONG TURN. SOMEBODY HELP ME delivers a chill a minute as the story revolves around characters Brendan Young (Marques Houston) and Darryl Jennings (Omarion) as they head off with friends and their respective girlfriends for a weekend stay at a remote cabin in the woods. After the couples settle in and start to enjoy the weekend, things take an eerie turn. On trips into the local town, they start to have strange encounters with some of the townspeople who seem a bit askew. One by one of group ends up missing or dead, while the dwindling group is forced to ban together more and more to figure out who or what is behind the killings. Ultimately, they discover even more than they bargain for in a chilling reveal. c&d

From IW: Even tho it is very, very, very rare that I like a film in this genre, I must admit that I am curious....a slasher/horror flick from the dude that directed You Got Served and House Party 4? With Marques Houston and Omarion? Sorry, but this is a must-see for me.

Shout out to reader Janice for letting me know about the screening, but I have some screenings to attend for the American Black Film Festival that day. I'll relay what I see to you guys....

If I were the writer and had the chance to try some new things, first on the list will be the white guy dying first :)

In fact, I'd probably bet money that's going to be in the movie. Impossible to pass up the chance.

I wonder if this movie is going employ the typical scared girl screaming and running then tripping and falling to the floor scene? I hope not!!! Let's hope they make this one a little more clever than that. AND no going down to the creepy basement to see what's going on without calling the police first.

It's like the black version of "I Know What You Did Last Summer."

@evan and solshine: I am really interested in what they're gonna do, as a lot of black comedy material is based on blacks not doing the stupid stuff and dying first in horror flicks @jj: I know...he's made some non-existent big deal about it lately...did anybody even notice? @keli, janice and sincere: thanks for letting me know; I will be watching.

@sincere: jj and I were talking about how our fathers used to use Royal Crown...can you imagine? Just use Vaseline, it's cheaper, haha:-)

I dig it.
But I'm still keen to see a scared girl run away from the killer :-)
