Why do people love this movie so? It was completely ridiculous, completely unrealistic, and completely low-budget, with really bad music. My guess is a) everybody loves karate and kung-fu b) people have love for Berry Gordy (who produced) c) my reason-Taimak was fine! (horrible Michael Jackson-like stage kisses and all) and d) nostalgia for Vanity.

LOL @ michael jackson stage kisses. yeah, i only watched this for taimak. back in the day, he was too fine. it was a terrible movie though. the script was...agh. and the special fx were lame. and sho 'nuff? yikes.
Man, this was the flick back then...it had nothing to do with the movie and everything to do with Taimak...fine, fine, fine!!!
When he got that glow?! Watch out!
The movie was crap but we loved it anyway! He really was fine (back when the light-skinned brothers were in and not on the down-low!!)
Theres nothing like the oldies, but goodies!
Speaking from a male POV:
Kung Fu +
Vanity +
12-yr-old hormones =
A CLASSIC!
You guys are all too funny!! Say what you want about this movie, it sure wasn't boring. @saladin: I'm sure that was the general consensus for the male poulation and this movie :-)
I loved it for Vanity and because I loved watching those badly dubbed kung fu flicks on Saturday mornings.
The Last Dragon gave me my own Kung Fu hero to idolize.
Also, Bruce Leroy made it cool to wear karate shoes to school for about 6 months.
that's funny!
his acting was a little suspect but when he played that date-rapist on a different world, it was a little better. sorry he didn't get more roles...
I forgot about that one! Great memory you got there....
I mainly liked it for the same male reasons mentioned earlier. I also liked the whole Sho-Nuff thing. Yes, it was corny but I liked his lines. Some of my old fraternity brothers used some of those for step shows. I wouldn't watch the Last Dragon now, because there would be so much wrong with it. I still crack up on that "When You Got that Glow" song. I still remember parts of it, "When you got that glow, the power of elevation. When you got the glow, I say your body show, when you got the glow."
Half a world away and I still remember that. Sad I know.
If you're sad, we're all sad Ehav--everyone knows and loves that movie for various reasons...one is the memory of the "glow"!
