From Bad To Worse....

Last month I posted here about Tyrese being considered to play the Green Lantern in the new Justice League movie. The consensus was pretty equally divided; the men weren't too thrilled about it, the women just wanted to see Tyrese in a tight costume (including me, haha).

But who did they actually get to play G.L? Common of all people. Don't get me wrong, me love him and all, but superhero material? Maybe if the hero was named Wheatgrass & Incense Man.....good luck to him just the same.

Common is my new baby's daddy (fantasy) but even I'm a little wary...we'll see...

IW, I thought the same thing. Common is a cool guy, but maybe to cool for the Green Latern. Comic book heroes aren't that laid back. I guess all we can do is wait though.

LMAO! Wheatgrass & Incense Man. You are SO wrong. I love Rashid and I'm concerned as well.

I don't really have anything to say on this post, I just feel like I haven't talked to you in a while, so I am just happy to be typing.

Common isn't a name that would come to mind for Green Lantern. As an actor it would be something outside of the characters he has played in the past. I'm actually looking forward to it.

LOL @ Wheatgrass & Incense

Perhaps he would be better at playing Captain Planet.

Where did you get the picture of me in my favorite GL jammies???

As an oldschool GL fan, I don't think Common is the best choice for the part. But, I have no doubt he'll do a funkier Green Lantern rap better than Tyrese could. Start beat-box:

"Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power --Green Lantern's light!"

Oh man you guys are a riot!! Wheatgrass & Incense Man!!! I am still crying but when you add flynerd's rap to the mix!!ROFLOL!!!
hhhhhaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

By the way GL always was stupid, I'm sad to see Common involved in this mess...So sad...

Well, it looks like the women and men are divided once again; I am on the side of MM, Wanda, Danielle and Regina....ummmm...NO (but we'll see cause we love him). I agree with Jamie too tho--like to see him in the costume!

At darkbrotha-I was never bowled over by GL either, but as UT said, maybe Captain Planet would have been a better fit.

@MGV: welcome back! I always miss your comments when you're away. @flynerd...LMBAO!!! That was good--it also sounded like something he would write/rap.

I actually wonder at the bigger message. We're seeing more and more rappers and singers taking parts and our good actors sitting on the sidelines. What's that about? Well, it's probably about ticket sales - but not an encouraging sign for young actors.

I couldn't agree more African Diaspora; that is a good point. Amboogie: I guess we should be grateful for the small things in life...

maybe i'm tellin' my age:...but before the justice league's version of the "black" green lantern, the original comic version...from back in my day, the 70's the green lantern was a white dude.

the only black male superhero that comes to mind right off the bat, is "luke cage, powerman"....but he's with marvel comics whereas green lantern is with d.c. comics.

*** supposedly john singleton is directing the upcoming "luke cage" with his "baby boy" tyrese to star as luke cage. look for it in 2009.***

Hi Lance...welcome, btw; I actually posted on those points you made maybe about a month ago if you wanna do a search on the blog...I think Tyrese MAY fit Luke Cage...somehow I smell disaster, tho...
