Random Movie News And Other Stuff...

From The Hollywood Reporter:

Louis Gossett, Jr. will executive produce and narrate The Untold Truth, a documentary about the Negro Baseball Leagues. Primarily the doc will focus on African American baseball from 1865, the end of the Civil War, through 1947, the year Jackie Robinson was signed to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

The executive producers, John Rittenour, Gregg Champion, and Gary Ballen, are planning to feature interviews with sports, music and entertainment celebrities in the film as well as an original soundtrack featuring rap, hip-hop, R&B, jazz and pop artists. Though they're still seeking a distributor, they plan to release the film in concurrence with the World Series this Fall.

From IW: It's about time! I was wondering why someone hadn't done anything on the subject--I was about to write that mug myself. We definitely need something besides Bingo Long Traveling All Stars and Motor Kings to represent. (No disrespect to Billy Dee Williams, Richard Pryor, and James Earl Jones). Lou Gossett is the original Cuba Gooding; winning an Oscar and proceeding to do decades of flops. This sounds like a good project, tho.

By the by: I will be on Afronerd Radio tonight with half of the now defunct Negro Justice League (since the retirement of Supernegro), Undercover Black Man and Afronerd. We will be talking about the nutball that is Hillary Clinton, and other political shenanigans. We also will be discussing some solutions and what we as Bloggers may be able to do. Please feel free to come join us! The call in number is 646-915-9620. Call and showtime is today, Tuesday, 9pm EST, 6pm Pacific. Hope to hear from you....

This has nothing to do with anything really, but does anyone loathe the new My Blog Log layout as much as I do? I don't even visit the site anymore; it used to be such a great resource.....

I have to agree with you. Lou Gossett has great acting talent and then he spends his time in crazy-wack movies. Waste. Cuba...I don't really know if he deserved for Jerry Maguire. I could act a fool all day long too.

As for the Negro Leagues movie. I agree. Bout Damn time!

There have been some movies about successful Negro League ball players. One of them told the story of Josh Gibson. It ended with a young Willie Mays getting a chance to meet Josh Gibson.

Another one had Lou Gossett playing Satchel Paige. I guess that is where he got interested in the subject matter.

Another one starred Jackie Robinson playing himself.

Another told the story of Roy Campanella ... a ball player who became wheel chair bound at the height of his baseball career.
