Will keep my irritations with Beyonce to myself, but this trailer is much more interesting than the first one....

This trailer is definitely better.
Of the four scenes with Beyonce, and yes, I'm bringing her up because I want to see what the Oscar talk is about, two are incredibly grating to watch...but the other two are just fine and of the four the singing one is the longest...
She sounded cracked out...but not when she was singing LOL
Anyhoo, yeah, this trailer looks better. But damn that thirsty wig. Damn it back to the wig crypt, I say! Again, won't go see it, but will definitely rent it :)
There are 4 reasons why I'm going to see this movie:
1. The Music
2. Jeffrey Wright
3. Columbus Short
4. Mos Def
I love their acting...not to keen on Beyonce as Etta James...I think they could've used anyone else...I just don't know who...
Leave Bee alone!
*UK Stan enters the room*
Is it just me or is Columbus Short really buff? I would so bonk him.
Anywhoo, looks like this film is not getting a UK or Euro release which means...
LimeWire 4 me!
::shivers:: Ooh, Jeffrey Wright!
OK...I may just have to go and see this, in a dark theatre...just to see Jeffrey talk with this accent...
::shivers::
Don't forget Eamonn Walker as Howlin' Wolf. Eamonn was like the Idris Elba of the 1990s.
I still don't think I can see this flick! I have a free movie pass & this does not look worthy.
Tafari
Zzzzz... Next!
I guess there is no next. This is it for us black folk until 2009. So what's been the tally so far this year? 2 Tyler Perry soap operas, 2 Martin Lawrence comedies, at least 1 Ice Cube movie... Spike's WWII bomb... what else??? Do we count Will Smith's "Hancock," or has Big Willy transcended race, and so doesn't count? Questions... questions...
Here's another potential post for you I.W. (and I'll be touching on this on my podcast probably next week Monday): create a list of all the "black films" that have been released through the studio system this year, and let's see just how well we've done, and maybe compare it to previous recent years.
Just a thought...
:o)
yawn, yawn, yawn, I am so sick of reord company/musician movies that don't really bring something new or interesting to the table, I'll just watch my beloved 5 Heartbeats for the 999th time and be happy.... and please let them stop putting Beyaki in movies, geez....
I do not want to see Beyonce on any kind of screen...
so that's a no for me.
@ Obensen,
You mentioned Will Smith....
This is a tangent, but I watched Oldboy again this weekend and darn it all, they are going to RUIN this feature!!! :( Will Spielberg keep with the same subject matter of all that occured or will he soften it up a bit, making the story more action than drama? I have a bad feeling about this...
@clnmike: i thought so
@madame z: i have to say, the more i see of her and her wig, the less i want to see it
@s. cooper: for reals. it is ALL about Jeffrey Wright and Mos Def.
@ms. m: calm down girl! maybe you should watch this one at home, haha!
@charcoal ink: bey would be glad to know you're out there stanin' for her! lol columbus short is definitely a hottie...
i'm glad you can get limewire--check out ovguide.com too--i think it would be great for someone in your situation.
@ubm: why didn't they just get idris, i wonder?
@tafari: i agree, there will probably be a few movies more worth your pass, for sure.
@obenson: I reaaaaly wish you would write it so i could post it (if that would be something agreeable to you). think about it; you'd be my featured guest blogger :-)
@naturally a: agreed. i really want to see actors, not singers and rappers for once
@regina: you KNOW i know how you feel.
@madame z: i am doing a post later today about the old boy cop out...and yes, it is a cop out
