Another Musical Biopic For Jamie Foxx....

Jamie Foxx has limited himself to action movies and musicals since his turn in the Oscar spotlight. He’s sticking with the formula, and probably hoping for another chance at an Oscar. He’s signed on to play Nathanial Anthony Ayers, a Julliard-trained musician who ended up homeless on skid row after suffering from schizophrenia. If Jamie Foxx, an expert imitator, is good at one thing, it’s a biopic. Oh. I guess some people would have said comedy there instead of biopics.

The movie’s based on a series of articles on Ayers that appeared in the LA Times in 2005. I didn’t read them all, but they are worth checking out.
From I.W.: Don't ask me why I posted this picture with this story

The Jamie Foxx that I see portrayed in the media and on interviews, I can take or leave. He does nothing for me. However, for some strange reason I love his films. When he gets behind the camera he rarely fails to entertain me. Go figure!

LOL. what is that picture?? i agree with cgwjc -- he's magnetic on screen. i loved him in any given sunday and almost everything else he is in. he should have gotten more face time in miami vice too. just my two cents on that.

Just came over to your site after the comments you posted on my Afro Samurai review (much appreciated by the way). I really like your blog, I think targeting a specific stlye of film keeps your blog unique and interesting.

As for Jamie Foxx the man has talent and seems to be able to turn his hand to anything.

I'll definitely be coming back to read your latest posts.

Ash.

I like Jamie Foxx the artist. And although a musical biopic, this charachter should have more dimensions that what he has played in the past. This should be interesting.

And...

LMAO at that pic!

Everybody seems to love Jamie...I'm not a huge fan of my man in real life terms tho, but he is talented, Any Given Sunday is my fave. I got the pic from a Google search; I have no idea what it's from, but he sure looks crazy!

@Ash I'm glad you'll be around....I'll probably plug your blog sometime this week.

Jamie Foxx is a *decent* actor -- better than most Hollywood actors, but, then, most people in Hollywood today can't act. "Ray" was an ok movie, but seeing a moderately talented musician/half-charismatic celeb play a ridiculously talented, incredibly charismatic celeb is alway hard...

BTW, this sounds remarkably similar to "The Caveman's Valentine" an underrated novel (and Samuel Jackson movie) about a Black Juliard grad that ends up schitzophrenic and homeless -- except that one was also a murder mystery.

He's awesome. His ability to mimic different types of personalities and vocals (singing wise) is amazing. I was shocked to see him in Ray. In all his films I totally forget that its Jamie Foxx playing the role. I only see the character... Thats a good actor.

;-)

Plus i use to have a crush on him back in the day, when he was on the "Jaime Foxx Show"...

[I also liked LL COOL J and Tyrese... I've cooled down since then though. LOL]

@ aladin-I talked about the Caveman's Valentine on an earlier post...not a big fan, hope this one is better. @latoya: those bodies are still bangin' tho!
