Well Excuuuse Me...

Got this in my email; I suspect she may be Nigerian, haha:

At first, I loved your blog and I don't like most blogs. No wonder you have to be invisible--you really tell the truth about what you know, but it doesn't matter because you did not consider Chiwetel Ejiofor. I am not a film buff and just as I was thinking that you are all that, you lost all credibility with me because you did not mention a word about Chiwetel Ejiofor. Are you insane? How can you mention Nigeria, black people, or even a black man without saying his name? How can you do anything at all in life without thinking about Chiwetel Ejiofor? You are fast asleep. You should dedicate your entire blog to Chiwetel Ejiofor. You should have everything that has ever been posted on the web about Chiwetel Ejiofor on your blog. Who cares about stupid Terrance Howard when God gave us Chiwetel Ejiofor. I would lose 30 pounds and stop smoking and volunteer for a worthy cause every Saturday for the rest of my life for one date with Chiwetel Ejiofor. You thought you knew something and had something to say. Well, you haven't said a word unless you are talking about Chiwetel Ejiofor. Wake up!

If you can't bear to look at what's his name, The Last King of Scotland, look at the attached. Girl, please! And, I haven't even seen "Talk to Me Yet" or "Dirty Pretty Things" yet. I wish I could fly to England and see him on stage right now in whatever play he is in currently. When I saw him in "4 Brothers" that is all I needed to see. How could I like him in "Kinky Boots" I have no idea, but I loved him in that too. I am so close to saying he should have had the lead instead of Denzel in "Inside Man"--I don't know what stops me! Chiwetel in "Serenity" was just gratuitous Chiwetel, but that is okay, because he always looks good in a fight scene too. Well, now I need a nap. Good night.

From I.W.: Well, I guess she told me. The funny thing is, I was gonna write a post on him this week, but now I don't have to...let me wrap it up by saying, dear reader, that you'll be happy to know that he is being considered for the lead in the Black superhero movie "Panther".

I am glad she took a nap --- sound like she was really high on the guy -- or something!

I love Chiwetal in "Kinky Boots" and all of the above --- he is amazing, but so are a lot of other actors.

Yeah, take it down a notch, stalkerish. I'm not saying she is a stalker, I'm just saying she's stalkerish.

"Last week I'd mentioned that I didn't know much on African Film. I wrote a little blurb yesterday about "Nollywood" the explosion of Nigerian film." - invisible woman

I believe you apologize in advance for not knowing that much about African films...

Is he even a Nollywood actor? He was born in Nigeria, but isn't he British?

I better stop, I may be next.

I got your back girl...

I've been having that problem lately. I thought it was just me.

I'm new to African cinema too. Check out the work of Senegalese filmmaker Ousmane Sembene. His work is from the 60-70's but it provides different perspective of what was going on in the world at the time (different viewpoint from our own American history). Both racial and normal day to day life.

In other news I finally got my copy of Street Fight aka Coonskin. It is a retelling of the Br'er Rabbit folk tale. I was apprehensive at first. Big pink lips just set me off but I was surprised to really enjoy the film. This film is brazen in sending up racial caricatures but also subtle in telling a deeper truth about “the system”. I miss the days of skillful filmmakers. Today if they have a message they suck any human qualities out until it becomes like a jackhammer bringing the message home.

He was good in Serenity as the Operative. He played a villain, but with an interesting twist. He was described by one character as a believer who was intelligent, methodical, etc. I also like the fact that he was kicking butt and taking names. I also liked Ron Glass's role in the Firefly series.

I was just thinking about Ron Glass the other day...forgive my ignorance, but what is Firefly?

Firefly was a series by Joss Whedon of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fame. Firefly was set 500 years in the future where other planets were tera formed to sustain human life. Seven years before the series began there was a war, played out to be similar to the Cival War, between the Alliance on the Central Planets and the Border Planets. The series follows the crew of a ship where two of the main characters were a part of the loosing side (Border Planets). The series only lasted for about 11 or 12 aired episodes with a total of 14 on the DVD.

In the series Ron Glass played a Shepard named Book. The Shepherds were like a priest order. As the series progresses and each character is developed Shepherd Book's character is played out to have had a past that may have involved something to do with him being a part of the Alliance. Several times it comes up that it is strange that Shepherd would know so much about military weaponry, crime, etc., but also in one episode he ends up having some kind of ID card that gets them onto an Alliance ship for medical help. In the Serenity movie it seems to be played out that role as the Operative, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, may end up in the same way as Ron Glass's character. Also, Gina Torres played a strong role in the series and the movie. Richard L. Brooks is even in the series as a bounty hunter who has a really interesting take on things and funny way of talking.

I feel the exact same way about him. I recently broke up with my boyfriend and was so upset that I decided to pretend Chiwetel was my man (to remain sane). It only took a couple of weeks for me to really start to believe that lie. Now I'm obsessed with him. Its weird. I've had a crush on him since the 8th grade when I saw Amistad. I would faint if I ever saw him...

Ron Glass? lol I havent seen him in anything since Barney Miller lol
