Interesting....

Spotted this on AOL:

Most rappers take baby steps in the acting world before they even get recognition and respect, but for some, they are treated as if they were #1 draft pick. Take 50 Cent for example. His first film, 'Get Rich or Die Tryin'' was directed by acclaimed director Jim Sheridan, and his second film, 'Home of the Brave', had him co-starring with Samuel L. Jackson.

For his third role, and one that every actor would kill to be in, 50 Cent will be featured in 'Righteous Kill', which reunites two of the biggest actors of this era, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino star as a pair of veteran New York City police detectives on the trail of a vigilante serial killer in the adrenaline fueled psychological thriller "Righteous Kill", directed by Jon Avnet (Red Corner, Fried Green Tomatoes) and written by Russell Gewirtz (Inside Man). The cast also features hip-hop superstar Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson (Get Rich or Die Tryin'), Brian Dennehy, John Leguizamo, Carla Gugino, Dan Futterman, Donnie Wahlberg, Rob Dyrdek, and Trilby Glover.

After 30 years as partners in the pressure cooker environment of the NYPD, highly decorated Detectives David Fisk and Thomas Cowan should be ready for retirement, but aren't. Before they can hang up their badges, they are called in to investigate the murder of a notorious pimp, which appears to have ties to a case they solved years before.

From IW: I can't wait to see 50 try to act his tiresome ass around DeNiro and Pacino...maybe it's a comedy!

Ain't that about a bitch! I don't know how many talented and qualified actors would kill for the chance this shot 9 times and some bullets entered my mouth, can't speak properly negro.

Anthony Mackie
Lorenz Tate (where is he?)

They come to mind right now. Damn! Curtis and Hollywood suck Donkey Ass.

That should be interesting indeed. I only saw him in Get Rich. Actually, I didn't think he was awful in the film. But still. I'm generally opposed to the rapper to actor thing. But whatever. I'm outnumbered.

50 Cent is a brand, nothing more. He is brings an audience with him so that is what they are banking on, not his skills as an actor.

I've only seen him in 'Get Rich...' where he played himself. It seems as though he is reprising his role of himself with another name slapped onto the credits.

Let him play something other than a "_______" and perhaps we'll see if he can rival a great actor such as Mos Def.

(I am aware that Mos Def was an actor before he was a rapper)

What kind of sh** is this?! How in the world does 15 cents get a part opposite DeNiro and Pacino? Now I know the Devil is running Hollywood...

danielle: I think Anthony Mackie would have been a good choice too.@ black actor and UT: I think Mos Def might be the only legit rapper/actor besides Will Smith (if that counts). I had no idea Mos acted before rapping...what was he in?

MM: You know that devil is CEO of H'wood...which accounts for hell freezing over Keli-lol.

TSBAMT and kiki: I will let you know what happens; I have to see this--who KNOWS what will happen!

@kreativemix: welcome, and yes, he is one of the luckiest dudes ever...somebody is prayin' hard for him, that's for sure.

I say do ya thing Fiddy. I sure many other actors tested for the roll so if he won out over others, He won out.

Hollywood is a tough business

Mos Def has been acting since he was 14. I remember him telling me that he started off on stage and then worked his way into television and movies.

I'll try to get some info to you later regarding credits.

when i first heard about this project a year ago. 50cent, de niro and pacino, i was like "wtf?!!!"...50??? get real...

true, there are plenty of actors who could "probably" do a superior job than 50 based on previous acting roles, etc.

but why 50?... i did some research to find out that millennium films, that produced "home of the brave" starring 50 is also producing this film "righteous kill". interesting. did 50 had a contractual commitment with this prod. co that would have tied him into this film? maybe or maybe not.

but one thing is for sure...

50 cent has "will smith" bank right now and he could have easily bankrolled his way into the film with millennium's producers blessing.

will i watch the film? sure, it's de niro and pacino. those are the stars to watch fo sho. the producers would be suicidal to have 50 run alongside d&p for the length of the film. if so, d&p will school him so much, that they ain't gonna let him fuck up "their" game.

case in point: denzel washington in "training day"...who woulda thought snoop dogg and dr. dre would step up their acting game. when denzel's on the set, betta have yo' shit together.

Lance said...

to add on:.. emmett/furla films also produced "home of the brave" as well involvement with "righteous kill" and 50cent...

see, where this is going?...

The little diddy from Sesame Street came to mind after reading the casting line up.

...one of these things does not belong You remember the one right?

I love DeNiro and Pacino but I'm not sure if I'll check this out because I absolutely despise 50 pennies.

Invisible Woman said...

@UT? Really? Wow...cause I don't know about anything before Blackstar...

@ Slaus: that has to be the weirdest, strangest, hella funniest analogies I've ever read!

Chocl8t: if you read Lance's statements, I'm sure the light will come on--I think I may post the comment to alleviate the disgust!

Chocl8t said...

@ IW: Lance is prolly right ont he money but I still despise those 50 pennies. LOL :)

I know this is off topic but I was in a black book store the other day and saw a "novel" by 50 cent & Noire. LMAO, that was the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

Invisible Woman said...

@chocl8t: I love that name!

@hottnikz: I read about that...you gotta give it to him--bruh man is all about his paper, and he doesn't give an eff how he gets it.

*dead* @ Slaus

Lance, gooooood point. .34 euros paid his way into this film. That greedy sumbitch knows how to market himself.

I wonder how DeNiro & Pacino REALLY feel.

Invisible Woman said...

lajane: .34 Euros? Hilarious lol!

stop hating on 50 - he is a hard core - businessman, rapper, now actor. He's been through hard times - sure - who hasn't - throw the first stone! Otherwise, sit back watch and enjoy his climb to success!
