Like father, like son. The mini version of Will Smith, his son Jaden, is starring in a classic Sci-Fi remake just like his daddy. This one tho, I'm kinda like....eh.
From AOL:
With a little help from Big Daddy Will Smith, Jaden Smith made one hell of an Hollywood entrance with 'The Pursuit of Happyness'. Not only was the film a worldwide success, but it put Jaden above the rest when it comes to casting young actors in major films.
With that being said, and I'm sure after carefully looking over future projects, Jaden, through the help of his parents (Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith), has pick his next film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jaden Smith has landed a part in Fox's sci-fi thriller "The Day the Earth Stood Still."
Smith will play the rebellious Jacob, the 8-year-old stepson of scientist Helen Benson (Jennifer Connelly) who first makes contact with the humanoid alien Klaatu (Keanu Reeves). Kathy Bates and Golden Globe winner Jon Hamm also star.
From IW: All American Jennifer Connelly as Jaden's step-mom? All I wanna know is--who dat daddy is?

Hey nepotism is alive and well, but I ain't even mad! Get that money!
Blessings!
Them kids is blessed is all I'm saying...
LOL, IW as soon as I read Jennifer Connelly's name, that's the first thing I said, well who is the daddy?
I must admit though, however the studios choose to weave these stories together, I'm always glad to see children of all races play these roles. While American society is definitely not color blind, we know that there are tons of interracial families and children all over the world. Let the movies reflect that reality.
I'm a big fan of the original movie, "The Day the Earth Stood Still."
I've given some thought as to how it could be remade, and still remain true to the original.
I'm not sure it can be done. I'm looking forward to seeing what the writers came up with.
Jaden should have a long and happy career as an actor. His role in "The Pursuit of Happyness," sparkled with real talent.
I wish him the best in this new venture.
I think I will be skipping this but Jaden is a cute kid!
I wish ALL folx of Color (specially those who reflect shades of me;-) - the BEST as they navigate these shark-infested media careers. So, if the Smiths can make it happen - Go For it!
What's good, Sistah IW? PUh-LEEEZE accept my apologies for being remiss in coming to wish U a GREAT 2008 sooner! U know I got Plenty of Luv 4 ya!

@Regina and Ms.M: that whole family is blessed, with stacks of paper on top of it.
I thought the same thing Sheila...I don't ever remember seeing that kind of family set up in a high profile movie before--I think it's a good thing.
@the first domino: welcome :-) I am interested to see that as well. Hopefully it will turn out as well as his daddy's.
@jcd--he is definitely a cutie pah
Sister CapCity: where ya been girlie? good to see you :-)Happy New Year to you too---thank you.
I am definitely going to to do something on Buck and the Preacher soon--I love how the main characters are portrayed, and I LOVE Harry Belafonte's performance in it.
Er,
science fiction / scientology
hmm, are all Will's kids gonna be actors?
Jennifer Connelly, eh. It's pretty obvious that this movie will just be a "star wars" level revisit of a sci-fi classic.
Why don't they remake Tron or something. A movie that was horrible and then remade to be watchable.
