WTF?....Volume 12

Jamie Foxx's career is starting to sound like a practical joke. First "From G's To Gents", now this.

Jamie is set to portray Mike Tyson in his biopic. Says Iron Mike (read this in his lispy voice):

“Jamie Foxx and I will be working together. He will play me in the film about my life. We already talked about it several times.” Tyson also insists he is finally free of drugs for the first time in years, admitting he was never completely sober - even in his boxing heyday.

Says IW: Just.....damn. Wonder if Jamie is drug-free.

Now, this could either be a comedy or it could be brilliant...depending on how Jamie works it.

Jamie is a talented brotha that I think has been wasting away partying and chasing after loose women...if he commits and gives this the "Ray" treatment (which likely won't happen) it could be beautiful...I just hope he doesn't try to do the Tyson accent/dialect...that would just kill it for me...

hmmmmmm. I'm not excited about this. I'm also irritated with Jamie for cashing in on Reality TV with that G's To Gents Bullsh*t. Sigh. I should just go back to bed and pull the covers over my head.

I'm guessing this will be a comedy????

And "From Gs To Gents?" I haven't heard about that one... I'm off to Google it right now!

Does this fool think that he is a big enough star to make everything he touches turn to gold?? Because this is already destined to hit rock bottom, Jeez it's Mike Tyson for goodness sake, who is going to pay to see this mess???

Hmmmmmm, this calls for some real thinking. I don't see it, but I guess it's possible.

I agree with msmarvalus; it could be really good, or just awful. But is mike speaking too soon. I wonder if this is something that he and Jamie discussed in passes. A lot of times these tings don’t even make it to the conference room and even then, the idea can get tossed. Maybe, he’s trying to stir a buzz, we’ll see. And actually, wasn’t there already a movie about Mike Tyson. Not too sure about that though.

I don't think it's far-fetched, at all. I like Jamie Foxx. I don't see why he could't accurately portray Mike Tyson. I think he is a capable and committed actor. I don't nuthin' about the TV show or reality show.

I'm-a need Jamie to sit down for a minute. His decisions since Ray haven't been...the best.

I'm kinda looking forward to this. Jamie seems to do his best work when he's playing a real person...but I have to admit he hasn't made the best choices since his Oscar night.

I've successfully completed reality tv rehab, so I don't know anything about his new show. I knew I had a problem when I watched the first season of Flava of Love...lol.

@Ms.M: do you think they could do a movie about Mike and leave out the way he speaks? I dunno...

@danielle: maybe jamie could do it, but that reality show turned me off so bad that I don't wanna know.

@obenson...now I know you haven't been paying attention to my little blog :-( Wrote about it a couple weeks ago...

@Regina: sometimes I think he's going through the post Oscar curse of Cuba Gooding.

@shelia: the jury is still out---half these things are talked about and never come to fruition

@marleaux: you're right. One third of the upcoming movies I wrote about on this blog I haven't seen anything from. I don't know about a movie ablout Mike...I vaguely remember a TV movie.

@jj: agreed--I think it's ego.

@tba: dunno. You can't do Mike without the speech thing, and it would just be too wierd coming from Jamie.

Hi Pricilla. I loathe reality television, but even I got hooked on the first season of FOL after watching an all day marathon...don't feel bad! :-)

@asha vere: he should just keep saying "Cuba Gooding" as his mantra...

I personally think Jamie will take this role very serious and have another great performance. As a huge boxing fan and Mike Tyson fan I think this can be a great role for Jamie. We know he can be serious when he wants to and he proved that in his roles as Ray Charles and Stanley Tookie Williams. So lets just see what comes of this. I expect something great.

I dunno, I just can't see it with him and Tyson's voice...too much.
