Not Issac Hayes too! He passed today...damn, is it true about what they say that these things come in 3's? This one has me twisted.
My father used to play an album called "Hot Buttered Soul" when I was a kid, and Isaac had a deep voice that dripped all the things I didn't know about. There was some album cover where he was dressed in a jumpsuit made of chains, bald head shining. I also know he liked to call himself "Black Moses" and would appear in some type of Arabic/biblical head covering. I didn't know what to make of him then (at all), but I know now that he was a mack daddy to the fullest.
R.I.P. Black Moses.
Here is Issac laying his mack hand down with a 6-pack of beer and some KFC. I may be wrong, but I don't think that would really work on any chicks that look like Annazette Chase, but "Truck Turner" is a movie after all:
Update: R&B diva Aretha Franklin said:
"[Hayes was] so musically advanced and timeless in his compositions. He was loved and appreciated by so many. He was an enduring symbol of the struggle of the African-American man and was a shining example of soul at its best."* *
From IW: Agreed.

Damn...I just opened up my browser and saw this...
This shit is unreal...
This weekend has been insane ... I was officially done when I saw this.
I can't even take it. First Bernie and now Isaac? Black Moses? Stick a fork in me cuz I'm done.
Hot Damn, I hadn't heard about this. Wow what a weekend.
My favorite Isaac Hayes album is a 2 vinyl LP duet with Dionne Warwick. It's called A Man and A Woman. I remember in the 70s, we would drive down south to visit relatives. We'd have that 8track blasting loud as could be with Isaac Hayes shouting, "what's my name? Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip!" R-uh Kelly, Neyo, et. al., ain't got nutt'n on Masta Grip!! Do yourself a favor and listen to Chocolate Chip. Now when I hear it on my iTunes, I find myself still waiting at the pause for the song to click to the new track. Some of you know just what I mean. Rest in Peace!
2 people in 7 days is just too much.
Hello there!
It is a shame that Isaac Hayes has passed away...and a day after black people all over the world were just bracing themselves after hearing about the passing of Bernie McCullough...
At the height of his career, Isaac Hayes represented a different type of black masculinity. He had a lot of mystery about him. Many women found him to be extremely sexy, although he was not the "all-American pretty boy type"...
I pray that he is resting with God. He was a legend who did not make his people ashamed with any scandals....
Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!
Lisa
Sad weekend for real.
@ms. m: when I heard about Bernie it was half expected, but still surprising. Isaac was a complete and total shock.
@s. flemming and sgd1844: you and me both....
@wanda: I'm sure you've heard all about it by now :-(
@beckie: wow, that sounds so very, very, cool! I'm gonna look that up--that man was something else! (by the way, every time I hear That's The Way Of The World by EW&F I always hear that 8 track click in my head ;-) )
@shae-shae: agreed! and it was 2 days :-(
bwbtt: that was beautifully said. I may post it....
