I blogged about the movie "Soul Men", which stars Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes, and is directed by Malcolm Lee in February HERE (bear in mind the pictures are missing for some reason). Some are saying that the film might not be released in this year as originally planned, cause it is a comedy, and it is too morbid to have 2 co-stars that passed in a comedy released too soon after their deaths. I think that would be a shame. For a thought about this, read this article, sent to me by Sergio:

Unless there trying to say this movie is on the level of Soul Plane, I can't see how you would not put out a comedy about soul music with Bernie Mac a comedian and Isaac Hayes a soul man.
What else are they going to do?
Make another movie with them?
There both gone.
Pay them the respect they deserve by giving their fans a chance to see them working for the last time.
Now if this another Soul Plane than the director and producers need to be the next ones buried six feet under.
I agree with your view that they should respect the fans and put it out there...I doubt if it is a 'Soul Plane' (director Malcolm Lee doesn't really go there)--let's hope I'm right.
This is Whorellywood we're talking about here... an industry that has proven that it lacks ethics, and will gladly exploit any circumstance that could possibly generate interest in a movie, leading to increased ticket sales. We saw what Heath Ledger's death did for The Dark Knight... granted Soul Men isn't The Dark Knight, but I don't think that I'm going out on a limb when I say that the deaths of Mac and Hayes will most definitely help the film, and I'm sure the studio releasing it knows that very well... so, I'm sure it will stay on schedule. Just call me cynical :o)
I agree with TOR. Can't see the "wood" taking the high road on this out of sympathy for the death of two of the movies stars. Their thinking about the zeros before the decimal point that they'll bank. So, guess I'm pretty cynical, too. But, on a personal note, I really hope the movie is released...might help many of us get thru the grieving process for Ike and the Mac-man...RIP
I heard last night that they are reworking the film so that it can pay respects to bernie & Isaac.
Looking forward to seeing it & I bet Samuel is hoping his ass is not next!

@TAO &SJP: not cynical, just knowledgeable and pragmatic to me.
@bygbaby: you know samuel is not gonna lay low if there's any paper to be had!
I agree with most everyone else here. I think the movie should go on. It will give us fans an lasting memory of them.
@mahoganydiamond: maybe the studios got scared--Negroes are so super sensitive these days, maybe they thought we would be offended!
