you know, I saw this up on another blog earlier today and frankly it seems much better than his other films. Of course we can only wait to see anyway.
One thing, I really love about Tyler Perry, is using actors that black people have know well (even if not be name) and putting them in an ensemble cast.
Also, at least he won't be dressed a Madea on Oprah again. Good G-d, thank YOU!
Looks decent. I'm not mad at Tyler. His movies have lacked things here and there but Madea always made up for it. This does look less spoofish though, and is probably well put together.
standard tyler. great cast, a little preachy but not a bad way to kill a couple of hours. i enjoyed daddy's little girls. but i'm not sure if it was the movie or idris elba :)
I've never paid money to see a Tyler film - I only saw family reunion cause my sister rented it and played it at - irony - our family reunion. I think I may actually up the twelve bucks to see this one... Jill Scott, Janet Jackson and very capable black men who aren't Tae Diggs or Morris Chestnut or shemar moore ... is reason enough for me. Not to be hatin but there are more than five black actors in hollywood, and I'm glad to see them on screen for once...
Y-A-Y for Malik Yoba being in this. I missed him since Girlfriends.
I'm impressed by the casting and the movie looks a lot less "extra" than the other ones.
Definitely a might-watch.
This one definitely looks like it's going to be good. For some reason I think Tyler should've kept Madea on the stage...It's just so over the top sometimes...
But yeah this looks like a winner.
I think the general consensus is in....it looks like Tyler might get it right this time...but as always, I love him for doing his own, and using us to make his films, and targeting them just for us.
Hmmm... hmmmm... hmmm.... :o)
I'm glad that it's not Tyler Perry in a fat suit, dress and wig. That alone is refreshing...
However, I'm getting a "been there, done that" kind of vibe from the trailer... I'm sensing "The Best Man," and other films of that ilk.
But, I'll keep hope alive... for now. And as you said, as much as I might despise the Madea series, Tyler Perry is doing it, and seemingly doing it well...
TAO
you're right tao, kinda the same ol'...but at least he seems to be taking steps in the right direction like you said...
Just the fact that Tyler Perry will be kissing a woman in this movie, will have me front row center. If he can pull that off without gagging, will be worth the price of admission. I have not missed one of his movies yet, and have no plans to start now. I love and admire Tyler Perry for the simply fact that each and every time I review his life story it only proves how good God is. How he refused to listen to the naysayers when told his 'chitling circuit' plays would never translate over the mainstream America is and should be inspiration to all. God Bless Tyler and anyone else who refuses to quit, cave in or give up on their dreams.
On the surface it looks like it may be the best of his movies ever. It looks hip and smart. I've grown tired of Madea and am thrilled he seems to be moving away from the "overweight, loud mouthed, black women" thing.
@coloredgirls: you are too funny! I don't think we'll see him ever kiss a woman, ya think? @ AJ: I think most people are tired of Madea, but she's still one of my guilty pleasures
@coloredgirls: a p.s. to what you've said...I've seen so many people in rap and film that I've worked with over the years that used to be bone poor, but they always kept at it and are now crazy rich and "successful". Their tenacity is amazing-most people hate on celebrities, but imo a lot of them deserve what they have, cause the most of the general population wouldn't allow themselves to suffer that way.
