Much, Much More From Samuel-(Just What We Need)

From AOL:

After doing so many films and making a lot of money, Samuel L. Jackson has finally set up a production company called Uppity Film, and New Line has filmed 'Man That Rocks the Cradle' to be the first star vehicle for him.

According to Variety, the film was bought as a spec script by Josh Cagan and based on a story by Cagan and Rob McKittrick, 'Man That Rocks the Cradle' revolves around an overworked husband and father of four who decides the solution to all his problems is a live-in nanny. Jackson will play the nanny, Marion Delacroix, a reputed "kid whisperer" from the South.

From IW: I guess that means we'll now have 100 mediocre films per year from Sam instead of the usual 50.....I kid, I kid! I'm just glad more of us are getting our own production companies, but really--is a film like this what it takes to be greenlit? Jeesh.

On a side note, "This Christmas" held down second place in the box office for the second week...kudos!

What's shakin' IW?

I'm always glad to hear about black folk getting behind the camera, but the film mentioned seems ridiculous.

Damn Sam! Can't you bring it w/more intelligence and tell a good story? For crying out loud!

your kidding about 100 mediocre films , but your right. i used to like him a lot more than i do now until he had like 4 movies out at once, and all of them were garbage. Sam needs to pick and choose wisely. i'm not saying be Chris Tucker, but at least read the script before you sign your name on the dotted line.

Interesting choice for a first film, maybe he's trying to draw on the kiddie super marketing.

Umm, well, I'm not really a Samuel Jackson fan but I will say congrats on the production company, but on the first movie huh, "No Comment!"
Blessings!

IW how dare you post such a picture. I did a migraine-causing double take looking at his funky head on that little body!

It is IMPERATIVE that we get our own production companies. IMPERATIVE. I guess we gotta take baby steps. Prod Company - Respectable films. Even though we shouldn't be in that mindset. We should insist on quality at every level. But I ain't gone complain. I'm glad he has a production company. Thank Goodness. It's a start.

About three years ago, I was marketing a script I wrote. I tell you -- I was quite surprised (and disappointed) at how few production companies black actors had. White actors had plenty more.

This is a good start.

OMG! I LOVE THAT PICTURE OF TINY SAMMY. :) :) :)

Er, excuse the spelling.

When I said, "this is a good start," I meant creation of the prodco.; not the film. LOL.

Well, if Sam has a production company then we know that he'll crank out films like he cranks out roles. Maybe it'll be more opportunities for the black actor and actress.

@Danielle: I agree, that's why I'm in the same boat with darkbrotha, regina and sincere...not a fan, cause he makes pretty much consistent garbage.

cute new pic, MGV :-)

Welcome all-mi-t, but i do expect more! haha thembi: you are so crazy lol

@black actor: baby steps indeed

@kayos: good point...hopefully he won't be strictly catering to "the man"...this first one of his sounds suspiciously like 'magic negro' syndrome...

Bless him.
We definitely need more investments like these in our community. All in good time I suppose. I think I'm more hopeful these days about an impactful turn of the tide.

I'm in stitches over this picture of Samuel Jackson and is that supposed to be his wife?! I am so bad. Thanks for the chuckles as I laugh and bite the skin of my lip in hilarity!
